  68. Four Winds is a computer version of the traditional Chinese game of
  69. tiles, Mah Jong. The game was introduced in America early in the 20th
  70. century and is now popular all over the world.

  72. We're sure you'll find Four Winds almost as challenging and fascinating
  73. as the real thing. There are several rule presets you can choose from
  74. (Japanese, Traditional and Modern American, European, etc.), and you
  75. can define the player characteristics of your opponents. You'll certainly
  76. enjoy the beauty of the graphics, and ease and smoothness of the playing.
  77. You can concentrate on your strategy and leave the tedious part (dealing,
  78. scoring, etc.) to the computer. A comprehensive help file is included,
  79. explaining all the rules and discussing the playing strategies.

  82. Installation

  85. To install Four Winds, unpack the contents of the zip file (4w107.zip)
  86. in a temporary folder, e.g., C:\Temp. Run the setup program by choosing
  87. Start, Run, and type the path and name of the setup program in the Open
  88. text box. E.g. if you install from C:\Temp, type C:\temp\setup.exe.
  89. Follow the instructions given in the Setup Wizard.

  91. Four Winds requires at least 1,70 MB free disk space (Compact
  92. installation with low resolution 256 color graphics and no help files
  93. nor sounds).
  94. Typical installation (with on-line help, 256 color high and low
  95. resolution graphics and sounds) requires about 3,63 MB free disk
  96. space.
  97. Choosing the Custom installation lets you define which components to
  98. install.
  99. All files are placed in the chosen program folder and subfolders under
  100. that folder.

  103. - a 386 or faster CPU with at least 4 MB RAM
  104. - Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, or better
  105. - a mouse
  106. - a VGA or SVGA display
  107. - a sound card (optional)

  110. For best results, you should run Four Winds on a system
  111. running in 800x600-256 (or higher) color mode, with a
  112. sound card installed. Using of Small fonts is recommended.
